What Can You Do To Make Hiring Easier

The days of having a mine of great candidates available for work are gone. Even considering the unemployment rate of today, hiring managers aren’t filling vacancies as quickly as before because they are dissatisfied with the candidates that are presenting themselves for hire. Maybe you have an unrealistic expectation in that you would like to hire that “rock star” or “chili pepper”, but the salary for that type of candidate is more than you can pay. Then again, maybe you are looking at hiring as an event or a process, or hire strictly on experience without looking at the “whole” person. In today’s job market, being a Hiring Manager is certainly a challenge.

Please read our article Do You Know Who You Are Hiring? and follow our Hiring Manager tips to get you started and to guide you in hiring the very best candidate out there. Also, be sure to opt into our email course for advice! You can also follow us on Pinterest and “Like” us on Facebook!

Don’t be a Zombie Resume Writer!

How long has it been since you reworked your resume? Have you thought about how generic you sound when you state that you have “skills” in certain areas without demonstrating the context? When the context of the skill is left out, it’s as if the skill doesn’t really exist. Maybe it’s time to begin rethinking the resume and use actual experiences to relate that particular skill so that the Hiring Manager will consider you as a “whole” person, not just some “zombie” or “robot”.
